Cyril Ramaphosa revealed his personal views about the land topic and it did not sit well with South African youth especially the EFF youth.

South African vice president is under fire for saying he is not delighted by how South African youth think having land can solve their problems. When addressing a group of graduates from UNISA Ramaphosa said he cannot entertain every rioting and chanting about the land because it does not make sense to him. “Young people should embrace education and stop burning Universities and demanding impossible things.

The vice president said he can only focus on things that can strengthen the country’s economy. “99 % of the land that was given back to black people is now barren, we’re talking about farms that used to feed the country and contributed a lot on GDP by exporting fruits, vegetables and meat and you wonder why the once so mighty Rand keep falling”

“I’ve actually visited some of the land that was given back to black people and felt ashamed when I see what used to be very productive land, fertile land, hector and hector of fertile land unused while the neighboring white farms are flourishing”. Said Ramaphosa.

“We as South African should also learn a thing or two from what happened to our neighbors north of the border. I strongly advice South Africans to think this through”.

EFF member are calling Ramaphosa a sell out. The ANC had generally avoided the land topic and some say Ramaphosa’s views are probably a reflection of the ANC’s view.
