A Nigerian shop owner in Pretoria killed himself along with a group of xenophobic protesters who were apparently about to set his shop on fire.
According to eye witnesses the Nigerian national warned the protesters to stay away from his shop or else someone will die. the protester who came with gasoline and tires where chanting outside the shop for over thirty minutes before the owner came out and orders them to move away from his business if they don’t want to die.
It is alleged that after the Nigerian confront them they charged towards him and a huge explosion followed. 12 of the protesters along with the Nigerian national died on the scene. 10 are in a coma and 28 are seriously injured.
The bomb that was used was so powerful and now the authorities fear that the suicide bomber has ties to terrorist groups. “It’s impossible for a civilian to get hold of a strong explosion like that”. Said the head of TMPD.
“If any incident of this magnitude follows we will be forced to evacuate the city and deploy SANDF”. Said President Jacob Zuma in a brief statement.
